The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yenagoa Branch, yesterday attacked the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Francis Idu for allegedly using comments considered disrespectful against the judiciary and Justice S.W. Amadubougha.
Idu reportedly descended heavily on Justice Amadubogha for delivering judgment which freed an accused kidnapper.
He allegedly said he would have ordered the arrest of the judge if not for the advice of his subordinates. However, the NBA said Idu’s action was contrary to the Police Act.
In a statement, Chairman Somina Johnbull said: “The open attack on the justice system and Justice Amadubogha is condemnable and unmask an attempt to intimidate and stampede the judiciary which all men and women of goodwill ought to stand up to condemn.”
