A fifth prosecution witness, ASP Wahab Kareem, Friday told an Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos that Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, alias “Baba Ijesha, who was accused of molesting a 14-year-old minor, is also facing another allegation of child defilement.
Kareem, attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, Lagos, said that: During our investigation, another girl (name withheld) came forward and said the defendant assaulted her when she was 12 years old.”
Baba ijesha, who is currently on bail, is standing trial on a six-count charge of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child and attempted sexual assault of a 14-year-old minor, who is the foster daughter of a popular comedienne, Damilola Adekanya also know as Princess.
The 48-year-old actor was alleged to have committed the offence sometime between 2013-2014 and in April 19, 2021 around Joseph Harrison Street and No 13 Wegbo Street, Iyawa, Yaba, Lagos.
While led in evidence by the state counsel, Mr Yusuf Sule, the policeman said: “We interviewed her and the defendant behind the counter, and he vehemently denied the allegation.
“The girl said the incident occurred at Agah area of Ikorodu, and we told a representative of the defendant to follow us to the house, and we met the landlord.
“The landlord showed us an apartment and said: ‘This is where Baba Ijesha used to stay’.
“Meanwhile, the defendant had denied living in that area.”
