Atiku’s Camp Reacts As Tinubu Emerges ECOWAS Chairman

Daniel Bwala, the spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 general election has reacted to the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Chairman of the Authority of Head of State and Government of  the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

New Telegraph had earlier reported that President Tinubu on Sunday emerged as the new ECOWAS Chairman at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the collation held in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.

Reacting to Tinubu’s emergence in a statement issued via his verified Twitter handle, Bwala who is a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), congratulated Tinubu on his emergence as the new ECOWAS leader.

Bwala, however, asked President Tinubu not to use the funds generated from the subsidy removal to finance ECOWAS because Nigerians are extremely poor and Nigeria has an infrastructure deficit.

He wrote: “Congratulations on your appointment by @ecowas_cedeao as ECOWAS chairman. My only worry is that they appointed you as Chairman after you removed fuel subsidy, so they know there would be revenue.

“Please do not use the funds to finance ECOWAS because your own citizens are extremely poor and we have infrastructure deficit here at home.”
