Ahead of the Rivers State Local Government election slated for Saturday, October 5, the Action Peoples Party (APP) has disowned a factional group in the State claiming to represent the party’s leadership.
In a statement released on Friday, the party’s National Chairman, Chief Uche Nnadi, dismissed the faction as “Impostors” with no official standing within the APP.
Nnadi called on Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest and prosecute the individuals involved.

He affirmed that Chief Sunny Nwokekoro is the legitimate Chairman of APP in Rivers State, having replaced former Chairman, Hon. Kenneth Atata.
The party also expressed its full support for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission’s decision to hold the scheduled local government elections on October 5, 2024, citing a court judgement by Justice I.P.C. Igwe that mandated the elections.
Nnadi urged the police to remain neutral during the election, emphasizing the importance of law and order while encouraging Rivers residents to participate in the polls.
