Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended seven members indefinitely for alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension follows their purported support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates during the 2023 elections.
Those suspended include Peres Peretu, Matthew Karimo, Major Oputa, Tangi Samuel, King Bolouyi Sufadoh, Goodluck Ebomu, and Youdio-Gwei Benjamin.

The Sagbama Local Government Area chapter of the APC issued this suspension.
This move came just days after the Southern Ijaw Local Government APC suspended the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, and the party’s 2019 governorship candidate, David Lyon, for similar allegations of anti-party activities.
The party’s Sagbama chapter, led by Chairman Jonah Abeke, accused the suspended members of openly supporting Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri and PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the last election.
The press briefing to announce the suspension took a chaotic turn when hired thugs stormed the venue, Da Crib Hotel, and attacked journalists, injuring several.
Among the injured were Tife Owolabi, the Chairman of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel, and Jacobson Park of People’s FM.
Security operatives from Operation Doo Akpo intervened to restore order, allowing the event to continue.
