APC Crisis: SGF, Govs, Senators, others from N/C meet in Lafia

Barring any last change, the Secretary to Gov- ernment of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Anime, governors and past governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senators of the APC and all other APC stake- holders from the North Central will tomorrow (to- day) in Lafia Nassarawa State to discuss the crisis in the party as relate to the zone. Among the people to be at the meeting according to source are governor of Kwara State, his coun- terparts in Kogi, Benue, Nassarawa and Niger States. Also, former governors from the zone, serving law- makers of the National As- sembly and past would be in attendance at the meet- ing, the source said. The meeting, according to the party source would discuss the crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress as it affects the zone.

Since the National Chair- man of the ruling party was taken away from the zone last year, the North Central has felt shortchanged in the party. Before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took over as President last year, the position of APC National Chairman was zoned to North Central and was occupied by the former gov- ernor of Nassarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

However, Tinubu, last year ceded the position of the APC National Chair- man to Kano State, North West. The rezoning has been a source of problem in the party. A party source said the stakeholders from the North Central would meet in Lafia today to discuss on the position to present to the President on the is- sue of National Chairman of APC.

The governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatai Abdul- razak would chair the meeting. It would be recalled that some party members were at the APC National Secre- tariat on Thursday to protest against leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje as the APC National Chairman. The protesters were chased away by Ganduje and APC security men. Speaking, the party source said the meeting would determine the fate of the party in the next few weeks to come.

“As you know, the Pres- ident had kept quit for sometime on the crisis of the party. “He is waiting to get reports from the zones on the states of the party be- fore taking decisions. And the North Central would present their resolution of their meeting to him.”
