Anambra community declares war on ‘white Ice’ drug

Umudioka, a community in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State has declared war illicit drugs, including Methamphetamine orCrystalMeth(aka‘Mkpurumiri’ in Igbo language).


In a public service announcement signed by Chike Odoji, the President General of Umudioka Improvement Union (UIU), the community said sales and consumption of these illicit drugs has been proscribed in their environment.


Odoji, however, disclosed that the community will be working with Nigeria Drug Laws Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anti Cult and other relevant law enforcement agencies to begin the arrest of defaulters including dealers and consumers within Umudioka.


He went on to advise the youths to stay away from these illicit drugs, traded or consumed in the Community stressing that they won’t spare anyone that violates the directive, no matter the person social status. Other illicit drugs proscribed alongside Mkpurumiri are; Isi na Awa Agu, Aju Achu Enwe, Stonch and India hemp.

These are names of the drugs in their local parlance.
