Alia Presents N225.7bn 2024 Budget To Benue Assembly

Benue State Governor, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia on Friday presented the 2024 budget estimates of N225, 727,395,260.97 kobo to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The budget is tagged “Budget of Infrastructural Development, Job Creation and Poverty Alleviation”.

A breakdown of the budget showed that the proposed capital expenditure of N115 billion represents 61.6 per cent and capital expenditure of N110 billion while personnel cost is put at N54.6 billion representing 17.1 per cent and non-personnel cost or overhead cost is pegged at N54.8 billion which represents N10.3 per cent.

Governor Alia explained that the budget has a 25 per cent increase over the 2023 budget, and is in line with his working document “Benue Strategic Development Plan” which when implemented, will lead to a prosperous Benue State.

He said Benue people are desirous of accelerated growth which must be given to them, assuring that there will be improved infrastructural development with emphasis on road construction, digitalized economy, massive youth employment, improved agricultural growth, Sports development, increased funding for all tertiary institutions in the state as well as improvement in health care service delivery.

Receiving the budget, Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh, commended the governor for the timely presentation of the budget and assured that the lawmakers will engage relevant stakeholders and give the budget accelerated passage.
