Again, Police Repel Attack On Njaba Division, Neutralize 3 Suspects In Imo

…recover weapons, 3 vehicles

Personnel of the Njaba Police Division in Umuaka, Imo State, successfully foiled an attack on the Division on Sunday night and neutralized three of the assailants in the process.

The armed assailants, believed to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), stormed the Police Division in three SUVs and opened fire on the police facility.

The attackers who started shooting from inside their vehicles fired a barrage of bullets at the Division. In a swift response, police officers at the Division in a professional manner positioned themselves in strategic covers and returned fire.

The lead gunman who was spraying the Division with high calibre bullets from a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) was the first to be neutralised by the gallant police operatives in the Division.

The sustained fight-back from the police operatives led to the killing of two other gunmen before they had the chance to escape.

Sensing they stood no chance against the professional strategy of the Division, the remaining assailants, some of whom are suspected to have sustained bullet wounds, fled in different directions on motorcycles. The police recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles during the operation.
