Aeroport College of Aviation and Travel Management (ACATM) has added three new courses to its bouquet to boost the delivery of services and capacity in the Nigerian aviation sector, with a commitment to ensure international best practices.
The newly added courses to its already robust curriculum include Aviation Management, Helicopter Landing Officer and Drone Piloting. Aeroport, which is based in Lagos is one of the frontline aviation training institutes approved by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to offer training and build human capacity for the sector.
Speaking on this development, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive of the aviation college, Dr Oludayo Taiwo Gideon, said the three specialised aviation courses are a deliberate effort to have a value chain curriculum that will help the aviation and travel sector of the economy to produced professional workforce for the labour market.
According to him, “The newly approved courses, which will open new opportunities for students interested in building a career in the travel and aviation industry are currently enrolling students for the May entrance as the college already has experts in the field to commence prompt training.’’
Giving an overview of the Helicopter Landing Officer course, Gideon explained that the course is designed to equip the aviators with initial knowledge, to understand the skills required to perform the roles of an offshore Helicopter Landing Officer safely and effectively, adding that the knowledge is also balanced with practical training directly guided by the instructor.
This is as he noted, “Helicopter Landing Officer course can pursue exciting careers in various sectors, including offshore oil and gas, search and rescue operations and executive transport.
Gideon also disclosed that as part of incentives for prospective aviators and other professionals in the sector, ACATM offers a 20% discount to prospective students who are interested in the newly introduced courses.
