Adeboye Links Deep Corruption In Nigeria To Ingenuine Christians

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has linked the deepness in Nigeria’s corruption to Christians who compromise biblical standard and are not peculiar.

The Apostle of holiness said this while addressing the congregation on Saturday night at the three kilometre-by-three-kilometre, new auditorium in Shimawa, Ogun State, during the communion service, which is the day six of the ongoing 72nd convention of the church, which ends with ordination of pastors/thanksgiving on Sunday, August 11.

Adeboye at the service monitored by Sunday Telegraph, said it was impossible for a genuine child of God not to be peculiar, even in dressing and behaviour.

Adding that the people of the world expect children of God to be peculiar/different from them, leading to the questioning of their genuity when they behave in contradiction to God’s expectation.

He, recalled how a lady was denied visa by the visa officer on the ground that she did not look like the rest of them who were travelling outside the continent to attend the conference of the Full Gospel Men Fellowship International.

Also, he cited examples of his children(perhaps spiritual children) who applied for tarring of roads projects and were awarded the contracts, discovered the contracts will involve them compromising their faith.

One of them, he narrated was asked by the governor of a state to rewrite her N3million quotation for a tarring a piece of road to N33million which she declined doing and asked how she will spend such money and she was looked at, like “somebody who dropped from the sky.”

While the other discovered that the tarring of the road had already been done and wondered if it was a mistake, but was told by those who awarded the contract to her, to collect the money and give them their share.

“We talk about corruption in the nation. Why do you think corruption has become so deep? It is because we Christians who are supposed to be peculiar, it is now difficult to even know who is who,”Adeboye stated.

Calling for genuine change and noting the sacredness, sobriety, seeking for forgiveness and forgiving others that come with communion, the cleric further stated: “You that will come to the table(of Holy Communion) must enter a covenant with the Most High God that from now you will not compromise. This convention is about heaven, that is why we started with the topic,’As pure as light’.

“People must be able see you at a distance and know this is a candidate for heaven.

“Not every Dick and Harry can take the Holy Communion, it is a powerful meal. It is the meal that the one who started it says ‘in my father’s house there are many mansions, I am going to prepare a place for you.

“So that when I finish preparing the place, I will come back to take you, so that where I am, you will be also.'”
