The African Academy of Sciences (AAS) has said the new scientific discoveries and innovations by scientists from the African continent would be unveiled and discussed during its 15th Conference and General Assembly scheduled to hold in December.
The conference, which is holding in West Africa for the first time, is expected to host no fewer than 1,000 outstanding thinkers and stakeholders from around the world, including policymakers, regional science bodies, development partners, and key leaders on the continent.
The President of the Academy, Prof. Lise Korsten of the University of Pretoria, South Africa, noted that the conference themed “Empowering and Advancing Africa’s Scientific Enterprise” with many other subthemes ranging in several issues, would be declared open by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, while President of the African Development Bank (AFDB) Prof. Akinwunmi Adesina delivers the keynote address.
Represented by the Secretary General of AAS,Friday Okonofua, a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Benin (UNIBEN), the academy also disclosed that new fellows across the African continent would be inducted into the Academy during the Conference.
