…as police arrest suspects
The kidnapped Former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU) Prof. Femi Olaofe has been found dead.
Olaofe was kidnapped last Tuesday alongside his gateman in his residence located at the Housing Estate on Afao Road in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.
The incident, reportedly occured a day after the retired Professor of Industrial Chemistry returned from a short visit to Lagos, where he had gone to see his children.
The abductors then contacted his family and demanded N50 million ransom for his release.
It was gathered that the victim was found in a shallow grave along Airport, Ado-Ijan Road.
A family Source said “Security agents gave hints about the unfortunate development during a meeting with them in Ado Ekiti.
When contacted the police Commissioner CP, Adeniran Akinwale who confirmed the development said
“Yes, the professor has been found dead and we are doing everything possible to exhume the body for burial.
” However, we have arrested so many people and you know the circumstances surrounding the incident and we suspected insider’s work in which the security man employed by the professor was the one who planned it.
“They (abductors ) kidnapped the man with him so that we will not suspect. In the process of rescuing him, we have arrested some people. I can’t say much about the security guard, but at the appropriate time, we will brief the public.”, the police said.
