While addressing the delegation, Zulum listed the damages caused by the September 10, 2024, flooding which destroyed key infrastructure including bridges and roads, leaving many communities cut off.

The Governor applauded the WFP for their significant role in both the recovery and the ongoing flood relief efforts.

Zulum however appealed to the WFP to support dry-season farming along riverbanks and to provide improved seeds and solar-powered water pumps to help farmers reclaim their flooded lands.

“WFP has been instrumental in providing both food and cash to affected individuals, helping us manage these crises, While humanitarian aid is vital, it’s time we integrate these efforts with peace and development strategies that will ensure food security and foster long-term growth,” Zulum said.
