54 Thugs With Weapons, Illicit Drugs Arrested – Police

The Kano State Police Command has narrated how during the Hawan Eid Sallah Day on Wednesday it arrested 54 suspected thugs and recovered dangerous weapons and illicit drugs from the suspects. The Police Commissioner, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said the thugs, who some were already on the wanted lists of the command, would be charged to court on completion of the investigation.

In the same vein, the police said they had uncovered plots by some political thugs and enemies of the state, who are planning to hide under political regalia and disrupt the Hawan Daushe Durbar Celebration slated for yesterday, April 11 in the evening at the Emir Palace on Kofar Kudu, Kano, the state capital.

He said: “The joint security forces in the state are aware of these evil plans and have set all machinery in motion to ensure the peaceful conduct of the Durbar activities, and the safety of residents of the state as adequate deployment of manpower and equipment have been made to strategic locations across the state.”

He noted that the state Police Command is, therefore, making it categorically clear that whoever under whatever guise attempts to disrupt the peace being enjoyed in the state would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law. According to the Commissioner, sponsors will also be fished out and prosecuted.
