No fewer than 45 ve – hicles were yesterday confiscated by person – nel of the Lagos Task Force when they raided the Oshodi, Ikeja and Iyana Ipaja areas of the state.
Vehicles arrested were recalcitrant transport operators and motorists caught in illegal parking, dropping and picking of passengers in unauthorised spots and creating illegal motor garages, thereby disrupting the free flow of traffic.
Led by its Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, the task force has carried on with their mandate of restoring sanity and decorum on Lagos roads through the enforcement for compliance operations across the state.
Yesterday’s operation was simultaneous and started in the early hours of the day, as CSP Akerele, leading the team of enforcers from the agency also beamed its searchlight on street traders who have deliberately converted walkways and kerbs to mini markets along Oshodi Road, Suwebatu Street and Oshodi-Apapa Expressway contrary to laid down envi – ronmental laws of the state.
According to a statement by the Director, Press & Public Affairs of the Task Force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, goods displayed along the road were confiscated as the chairman reiterated his determination to sanitise the roads and highways of any form of degradation and unapproved conversion to markets.
