
No fewer than 43 suspected internet fraudsters have been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Port Harcourt during a sting operation.
The EFCC’s Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate who made this known on Thursday said the arrests occured at Rumuekeni and Iwofe areas of Rivers State following intelligence reports about the suspects’ involvement in cybercrime.
According to the anti-graft agency, the operatives acted on actionable intelligence, leading to the suspects’ apprehension for alleged internet fraud and other computer-related crimes.

Items recovered during the operation included various brands of mobile phones, laptops, international passports, ATM cards from different banks, five vehicles, two motorcycles, and a Point of Sale (POS) machine.
The EFCC disclosed that the suspects will face prosecution upon the conclusion of their investigation.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to tackling cybercrime and warned individuals involved in internet fraud to desist from such activities or face the law.
This arrest demonstrates the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to curb cybercrime and safeguard the nation’s digital space.
