The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has said that it would not allowed any individual outside it’s fold to contest governorship election under the platform of the party in 2027.
The ruling party said it would continue to protect the interest of the APC and that of it’s majority members for the growth and development of the party in the state.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday in Lafia, APC State Secretary, Yairus Dagusa, said the party would not allow some missguided members using
unwarranted mudslinging statement in the social media to bring the party to public ridicule.
He expressed worry over uncanny commentaries coming from within the party after it’s May 6, 2024, stakeholders meeting at the Government house in Lafia, saying that meeting was convened by Governor Abdullahi Sule to assuage the feelings of the aggrieved members with genuine concerns with the view to reconciling them.
The APC state chief scribe said that the press conference was organized to clear the air and put things in their proper perspectives in order to correct the falsehood, mischief and malice being dished out by some members of the party after the stakeholders meeting.
Dagusa therefore, called on members of the party at all levels in the state to refrain from inclusive comment that tends to divide it other unite the party for the better.
” You may be well aware that the Party held its Stakeholders meeting on Monday May 6, 2024, where far reaching resolutions were arrived at to this, however, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State, has noticed with utter dismay, the unwarranted mudslinging statements coming from persons within and outside the party, misguided persons though trying so hard to subject Our great Party to public ridicule”
” Such uncanny commentaries coming from within the Party is absolutely unhealthy; needless and capable of further dividing us especially at this crucial point where the unity and progress of the party cannot be negotiated for any a personal interest or convergence of groups advancement”
” This Press Conference has been called to clearly situate things in their right perspectives This is because all the issues raised by these commentaries are based on falsehood mischief and malice”
” It is imperative to state that the intent and purpose of the Party under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule FNSE in convening the stakeholders meeting was, abinitio, to enrich the Party’s feedback mechanism, feel the pulse of its members and most importantly, assuage the feelings of those aggrieved members with genuine concerns.
“It is the commitment of the leadership of the party to continuously imbibe the spirit of reconciliation, taken : pragmatic steps that will see to the return of many members that had left for various reasons”
He said that the All Progressive Congress (APC ) in Nasarawa state under the leadership of Hon Aliyu Bello would not work for any candidate outside the party to be governor of the state in 2027 even if the person is a personal friend of the state chairman.
“At this juncture, we consider it appropriate to call on our teeming members, supporters and admirers to be wary of the antics of these elements. As members of the APC family we should ensure that we scrutinize any information about the ‘party which is spreading in the public domain, to avoid being gullible.
“We should disregard any falsehood propagated by questionable people parading as members of the APC in Nasarawa State. Our amiable and hardworktng Governor, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has pledged to handover the baton of the State leadership to only an APC candidate, come 2027, even if the person is his enemy”
“In the same vein, I wish to also pledge that the Party in the State, under the stewardship of Aliyu Bello will not work for any candidate other than that of the APC come 2027, not even if such a candidate is a personal friend to, any of the party officials or the chairman.
“We shall certainly not be officials of the party and allow any other person outside of the APC family to become the next Governor of Nasarawa State.”
“Gentlemen of the Press, let me at this point, again admonish party leaders and indeed people of Nasarawa.State to focus on supporting the APC administration of Engr. Abdullahi Sule to succeed first and foremost .and stop “overheating the system.
“It is too premature to start conceiving electoral ambitions when we are confronted with the daunting task of delivering democratic dividends to the good people of the State.
“Sule is committed to the development of Nasarawa. State through the implementation of the NEDS blueprint. Nasarawa State in the past five years has witness tremendous industrial revolution, ease of doing business, evolving of community mechanism in addressing security issues thereby creating peaceful and enabling environment for good governance.
“We therefore declare our unalloyed support to his excellency to continue with developmental stride in improving the wellbeing of the people of Nasarawa State” he said.
