Six Secondary Schools in Kwara State have qualified for the final stage of the 2024 Tax Club Quiz Competition organised by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.
The spokesperson for the KW-IRS, Funmilola Oguntunbi, who disclosed this to journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, added that the preliminary stages of the Competition were held between June 24 and July 4, 2024, where 83 out of the 154 registered schools sat for the quiz from the comfort of their respective schools, while only 12 schools qualified for the semi-final stage.
Six finalists, she explained, emerged at the end of the semi-final held between 8th and 9th October, 2024 at an online Computer Based Test (CBT) centre with appropriate back-end monitoring by members of the KW-IRS Tax Club Advocacy Committee, alongside the representative of the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Roseline Ayansola.
The qualified schools are Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Asa Dam; Government Secondary School, Lafiagi; Shepherd Secondary School, Lafiagi; Government Day Secondary School, Gaa-Akanbi; Kwara State College of Education Model Secondary School, Oro; and Anglican Boys’ Academy, Oro.
According to her, the six schools would compete for the N2.5m grand prize at the final stage of the competition which would hold in Ilorin on 7th November, 2024.
