Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri
A Social Cultural Association in Adamawa State, “Gongola People Forum” is set to honour Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, his Deputy and other ethnic nationalities who made history during the 2023 general elections.
Addressing journalists in a press conference in Yola on Thursday, the Chairman of the Forum, Engineer Makus Gundiri noted that the celebration is aimed at fostering unity and economic development among various ethnic nationalities in the former Gongola state and the country at large.
Gunduri gave a deeper explanation that the gathering is to unite all the ethnic nationalities from Adamawa and Taraba (Defunct Gongola) and their extended Brothers who are other ethnic nationalities from other states of Gombe, Plateau, Nassarawa, Southern Kaduna, and Bauchi.
Gunduri, a former Gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa State said the Saturday meeting is also to come to terms with the current economic realities of the nation to work ways to navigate through it to escape from its excruciating pains.
Engineer Makus Gundiri, while calling for unity among members and Nigerians at large, explained that the Forum is not political but rather to encourage members who won elections in Adamawa state in the last general election.
He emphasized that the “Forum
which is made up of 72 out of the 74 ethnic nationalities in present Adamawa state is celebrating all young men and women who have excelled themselves in both politically, economically and infrastructure in their various fields of endeavour”.
He maintained that honour and recognition will further enhance considerable the historical background of the people based on the acceptable culture and norms of the present people from the present Adamawa, Taraba, Benue as well as the Borno States.
The Chairman of the Forum also listed the former military Head of the State, General Yakubu Gowon and General TY Danjuma among other personalities that are billed to attend the occasion.
Also, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, of Adamawa and his Counterpart in Plateau and Taraba States are to serve as guests of honour during the occasion which is expected to attract prominent sons and daughters from the defunct Gongola Province.
