2023 Plateau LP Senatorial Candidate Defects To PDP, Hails Mutfwang 

The Labour Party (LP) 2023 Senatorial candidate for Plateau Southern Zone, Hon. Alex Kwapnoe has said he defected to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State because Governor Mutfwang in one year has shown remarkable dedication to democracy and the common man.

The Senatorial candidate, who was a former Plateau House of Assembly Member and Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development during Governor Jang’s administration pledged his loyalty to Governor Mutfwang, whom he described as the “best governor” in the country.

Speaking to Journalists in Jos Hon. Kwapnoe said: “I have decided to join the PDP because of Governor Mutfwang’s exemplary leadership and his commitment to the people of Plateau State.

He is a true democrat and a compassionate leader who has demonstrated a remarkable dedication to the welfare of the people.”

The candidate praised Governor Mutfwang’s achievements in office, including his efforts to promote peace, unity, and development in the state. He also commended the governor’s inclusive style of leadership, saying, “Governor Mutfwang has shown that he is a leader who listens to the people and cares about their needs.”

The candidate’s defection is seen as a major boost to the PDP in Plateau State and a testament to Governor Mutfwang’s growing popularity across party lines.

The lawmaker praised Governor Mutfwang’s inclusive style of leadership, saying, ‘The governor has demonstrated a remarkable dedication to democracy and the common man. His administration’s policies and programs are tailored to benefit the masses, not just a select few.’

He also commended the governor’s efforts in promoting peace, unity, and development in Plateau State, saying, ‘Governor Mutfwang’s leadership has brought a new era of hope and prosperity to our state. I am proud to join the PDP and support his vision for a better Plateau.'”

This quote highlights the lawmaker’s admiration for Governor Mutfwang’s leadership style and his commitment to the people of Plateau State, which inspired him to defect to the PDP.

“His commitment to completing abandoned projects is commendable. For instance, projects initiated by Dariye that were neglected by subsequent governments have been completed under his leadership.

Additionally, the Utankon Abattoir roads project, which I gave the contract, during my tenure as commissioner for urban development and was abandoned, has been completed swiftly and efficiently by his administration.

Governor Mutfwang’s inclusivity and deepening of democracy are trustworthy. He ensures that local government interactions are held regularly and invites stakeholders for peaceful and constructive dialogues. This approach clearly demonstrates his excellent leadership qualities.

“I urge all politicians and citizens of Plateau State to support His Excellency Caleb Mutfwang. Key initiatives, such as the resettlement of internally displaced persons, transforming the transport sector, and revamping the tourism sector, highlight his commitment to the state’s development.

The rehabilitation of the Hill Station Hotel and the impending revitalization of the Plateau Hotel are significant milestones. Additionally, measures to tackle insecurity, such as reactivating Operation Rainbow, and the provision of farm inputs for the 2024 farming season, are commendable efforts.
