International Identity Day, observed on September 16, aims to raise awareness about the essential role of identity in our lives.

The United Nations established this day to promote the significance of legal identity, as emphasized in Sustainable Development Goal 16.9.

To put this into perspective, globally, about 850 million people lack a formal ID, which is crucial for accessing various services like education, employment, and financial resources.

In Jigawa State, the low registration rate underscores the need for increased awareness and mobilization to ensure that all residents possess a National Identification Card.
