Rivers Crisis: LP, APP Chiefs Bicker Over Fubara’s Alleged Plot To Dump PDP

The rumoured defection of the Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has created a division between the state chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP), the party said to be in the governor's mind and the Labour Party (LP). Although Fubara has denied the allegations that he wanted to join the APP, assuring the Senator Adolphus Wabara -led PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) that he would remain in the party, some oppositions parties in the state have accused the governing of ‘selecting candidates’ from the PDP for positions for the October 5 local government election.

Alleged Contempt: ICPC Chairman Defends Commission In Court

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, yesterday appeared in Kano High Court presided over by Justice Ibrahim Musa Karaye, to respond to a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON) Chairman and 43 Local Government Areas (LGAs) Caretaker Committee. Sokoto Approves N119bn Supplementary Budget

The Sokoto State executive council has approved a supplementary budget of N119 billion for onward submission to the state House of Assembly for their consideration. The council, which was presided over by Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Wednesday at the state government chamber, also deliberated and approved the sum of N17.9 billion for the rehabilitation of some road networks across the state.
