FG: Licensed Miners Prevented From Accessing Site For 16 Years

The Federal Government has said that illegal miners’ activities prevented lawfully authorised miners with licences covering four cadastral units from accessing the site for 16 years. This was contained in a statement by Segun Tomori, the Special Assistant on Media to Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake. He, however, stated that FG shut down an illegal gold mine site in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State. The Federal Government will receive $500 million from UC RUSAL, for the revival of the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON), in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
